is true that design is closely linked to the history of art, so in that sense Italians find it much easi- er, because of where they come from and where they live. - Their broad ed- ucation is combined with passion. Per- haps that’s why their versatility is best de- scribed by the slo- gan of architect Er- nesto Rogers “From spoon to city” (Dal cucchiaio alla citta) – says Scalmani.

Zato možda njihovu svestranost najbolje opisuje slogan arhi- tekte Ernesta Roger-

COFFEE WITH THE FLAVOUR OF GENIUS The Moka coffee pot has become an icon of Italian genius. Patented by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933, he long observed the daily life of Italian fa- milies in the kitchen, which is what inspired him to make a mac- hine that is simple to use and extremely practical. sa „Od kašike do grada“ (Dal cucc- hiaio alla citta) – priča Skalmani. Mudro iskorišćeni predmeti i materijali, originalni oblici i pažlji- vo odabrane boje rezultat su ču- desnog spoja mašte i ukusa mno- gih poznatih italijanskih stvaralaca.

als, original shapes and careful- ly selected colours are the result of a wondrous merging of the imagination and taste of many famous Italian artists. Many products that are signed by Italians are written in- to the history of world design and are part of the collective im- agination. It is impossible to mention everything, but Scalm- ani helped us to single out the most popular . When we talk about furniture desi- gn, we could mention items indefini- tely. Many Italian companies domina- te the market, but lamps probably best show the talent and skill of their de- signers. The most popular is the Tolo- meo lamp, designed by architect Mic- hele De Lucchi. In addition to this, we must also mention the Ti- zio lamp, a desk lamp master- piece designed in 1972 for Arte- mide by Richard Sapper. For this LIGHT WITH A DUAL ROLE work he received the Golden Compass Award for industrial design. Lamps we- re a real challenge for designers, be- cause they have a hidden symbolism – a light that helps us see the environ- ment, but also to get to know our re- al possibilities. On the other hand, they must also amaze us with their beauty and innovation.
