In the UK alone, the economic contribution that the defence of the country has on the prosperity of the country can’t be overstated. Annually, the MOD spend more than £20bn with UK industry and continue to invest more than £85bn on equipment and support alongside the billions in defence R&D. A strong defence and security industrial base helped the UK win orders with a value of over £18bn for equipment and security exports in 2019 – leaving the UK second and third respectively on these measures. The ongoing investment by the MOD continues to support over 200,000 jobs across the UK.
