ROCKLAND KART RACERS COMPETE IN COUPE DE MONTREAL

motorsports. Karts vary widely in speed and power. Sam and Zachary’s karts are Briggs LO206 powered Junior Class and can reach speeds of over 105 km/h, while Kevin’s Senior LO206 kart can go even faster. During the second race of the tournament in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, which was a 1.3 km circuit, Zachary finished with the fastest time of the day. He won the pre-finals, but then missed out on a win in the finals by a mere 0.012 seconds. Sam finished in 9 th place, after he managed to maintain control of his cart after two other karts collided in front of him and almost took him off the circuit. The next race for the Rockland kart races will take place at ICAR in Mirabel on Sunday, July 1.
Three kart racers from Rockland are competing in the Coupe de Montreal, which consists of six races being held in different parts of Quebec. The Coupe de Montreal began in May of this year in Saint-Hilaire, Quebec and the last of the six races will be held in September in Mont-Tremblant. The participants will also be participating in Mirabel over the Canada Day weekend and again in Saint-Hilaire at the end of August. Sam Potvin, Zachary Stakenburg and Kevin Stakenburg from Rockland will travel to Quebec to compete in the prestigious Coupe de Montreal . LA SAISON D’ATHLÉTISME SE TERMINEÀ TORONTO

Tyler Brighton, un élève de L’Escale, a représenté son école au championnat provincial de l’OFSAA ( Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) , la fin de semaine dernière à Toronto. Brighton a battu deux records personnels durant le tournoi. Brighton, qui est né avec la paralysie cérébrale, ne laisse pas son handicap physique l’empêcher du faire du sport – il joue aussi au hockey et au badminton. Il est un des quelques participants dans la catégorie ambulatoire
