Bromham Community Hub FollowingthelossoftheformerBromhamSocialCentreandOwlCommunity Pub to fire in 2021, OA were appointed by Bromham Parish Council to develop proposals for a new community hub and wider site masterplan in Bromham, near Devizes. Designed as a new focal point for the village, the project seeks to restore much-needed social and community facilities while creating a flexible and future-focused destination for local residents. The new single-storey hub provides a multi-use hall with associated bar and kitchen facilities alongside flexible lounge and café spaces designed to support a wide range of community activities and events. Efficient, adaptable layouts allow the building to accommodate everything from day-to-day social use to larger gatherings, helping to re-establish an important community asset at the heart of the village. OA worked closely with the Rebuild Committee and subsequently Bromham Community Hub CIO to progress the scheme through planning and into detailed design. A wider masterplan was also developed as part of the hybrid application, incorporating proposals for a new sports pavilion, village shop, residential development and an enlarged car park with EV charging facilities. The hub has been carefully positioned to maximise views across the surrounding countryside, while the building form and orientation have been designed to optimise opportunities for solar PV and long-term environmental performance. The result is a contemporary and welcoming community building that responds sensitively to its rural setting while supporting the long-term needs of the village.
