markee grew up in ripley and attended Ripley High School. Kurt grew up in Ravenswood and attended Ravenswood High School. The schools were bitter rivals, and there was little chance that a Ripley Viking would ever fall for a Ravenswood Red Devil. That is, until Markee’s and Kurt’s paths crossed at West Virginia University— neutral ground—in 2013. The couple planned a tour of Colorado for a vacation in 2019. They climbed to the summit of Pikes Peak and, with blue lips, Kurt asked Markee for her hand in marriage at 14,115 feet above sea level. Markee obliged, and the couple started planning their fall 2020 wedding. The couple currently lives in Morgantown, where Markee works as a manager of business development and Kurt as an environmental inspector. WHERE THEY RESIDE Morgantown
lauren and grant have known each other since preschool. When they were much younger, their relationship included innocent playground fun. Twelve years later, it was a completely different story. The pair reconnected while both were working at a popular fast-food restaurant in Charleston, and Grant asked Lauren to be his girlfriend on top of the Eiffel Tower at the Kings Island amusement park in Mason, Ohio. The couple returned to the park three years later to celebrate their anniversary. They climbed back up the tower, and it was there that Grant dropped to one knee and asked Lauren to be his wife. She said yes, and the couple returned to Huntington, where Lauren works as an elementary school teacher and Grant is finishing a radiology technologist program.
