‘We Belong to Each Other’
“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” —St. Teresa of Calcutta We belong to each other. This has been hammered into me since I was a child. From my parents, my older sisters and brothers, Sister Philomena to Father Ecker to Charlie Rice, to my lovely wife Michelle. I am my brother’s keeper. The people I admire the most in this world not only understand this, but they also live it every day. For the selfish purpose of wanting to be with the people I admire most (YOU), every year we have a Christmas party … and we hold it at an Irish pub, Quigley’s in Naperville, for good measure. This year’s party is from 5:30–8:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. The last time we were able to host this party was three years ago due to the pandemic. I hope you will be able to join us. When we plan our Christmas party, I pray for a few things. I pray that people we know from all different walks of my life will come together, get to know each other, and will, in turn, help one another through life. We want all of our family, friends, and all of their kids to be involved in their desired vocations. I will ask all of my friends to meet with folks who are looking for work or a new situation. Our community is one in which we help one another. We belong to each other. I fully recognize that our family has been given an incredible number of blessings. Each one of these is a gift from God. I believe that with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind. Michelle, our children, my family growing up, our extended family, our friends … each of you is a gift. At the beginning of the season, we host a party for all of you to celebrate Christmas as our guests. We have a lot of fun, and we raise
a lot of money for a few of our community’s most effective and meaningful charities:
St. Vincent de Paul provides “silent” works of charity by discretely aiding needy families, visiting homes and hospitals, and seeking and serving the distressed. We are truly blessed to be in the company of the St. Vincent de Paul folks at St. Joan of Arc Church. The folks at St. Vinnies are the last stop for a lot of our friends who need a hand up when a sudden illness hits a family or for single mothers who have been left alone to fend for themselves. Please help us support St. Vinnies. They are a 501(c)3 entity. Please make checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul. We are also proud to beg (YES BEG) for donations to St. Joan of Arc’s Adopt-A-Student Fund. SJA has been a game-changer for our family and for our law firm. This school builds character in young people for a lifetime and instills the concept that we do belong to each other. This fund provides an education for children who desperately want a Catholic education, but the family cannot afford it. SJA is a 501(c)3 entity. Please make checks payable to St. Joan of Arc Catholic School and mark on the check that is for the Adopt-A-Student program.

CONGRATULATIONS BRITTANY ON A GREAT 5 YEARS!
Five years ago, we decided to hire an in-house team member to tell our story. We had done a lot of great work. We needed someone in-house who was a terrific writer who could see the big picture. We wanted to serve our clients better. It took a while to find her, but we found a game-changer in
field. The proof is in the work product. Before we hired Brittany, we hadn’t published any books, and our social media presence was meager. We had no YouTube channel and zero webinars, and we weren’t deliberate about sharing legal updates. Since Brittany came on board, we have published five books and five years of monthly newsletters. We have more than quadrupled our online reach. We host regular webinars. Our outreach to clients is intentional, rather than reactionary. As the longest-tenured staff member here, Brittany has earned the respect and love of all of us for her hard work, dedication, and caring for all of her team members and our clients. We are so grateful to have you on our team Brittany. You have our utmost respect. Congratulations, Brittany, on your five years as a team member here.
