The main recommendations were as follows: • A better structured AA process. • Reinstate staff/student liaison meetings which was discontinued in AY 2018– 2019.

• Implement Foreign Language Policy as per mandate. • Create beginners and advance conversation courses. • More language courses for professions. • Procure larger offices and rooms. • Get new computers. • Get approval for Book Grants and Travel Grants. • Expedite contracts. • Invite adjuncts to Departmental meetings. • Divide/assign tasks for the administrative staff. • Address inter-personal conflicts in a positive manner. • Re-engage relationship with Embassies and Alliance Française.

• Include statement for diversity, equity and inclusion in DMLL website. The Action Plan designed by the senior members of the DMLL states: • AA Process will include an Orientation Day the first week of the Academic Year. The Orientation Day took place from August 29 to September 2, 2022. A sensitization exercise which took place during Semester I, this AC 2022–2023 took place on September 2. Language and Area Studies coordinators (literature, cinema, translation) will be offering individual tutorials to students through continuous dialogue in weekly office hours. • The Staff/Student liaison meetings were reinstated on November 2, 2022. The DMLL had two meetings, one each semester. The meetings will continue to take place during weeks 5–7 of each semester. • The DMLL wanted to clarify that the Foreign Language Policy is not a Depart- mental Policy but a University Policy and as such has been implemented through the Campus. Science and Technology student started 2022–2023, rest of Fac- ulties/students during 2023–2024. The DMLL is fully committed to offer the FLP classes in Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish, both in face to face and online modes. • Regarding the recommendation to create Beginners and Advance conversa- tion, DMLL decided not to create courses solely in conversation. The Depart- ment already offers conversation classes, as oral skills are a key component in Language courses. One hour per week is dedicated solely to conversation and
