Dr. Ferguson also participated in a Round Table discussion on Education for Sus- tainable Development with colleagues from the SISSTEM team at the University of Aruba. AWARDS AND SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES The book Education for Sustainable Development in the Caribbean: Pedagogy, Processes and Practices co-authored by Lorna Down and Therese Ferguson and published by The University of the West Indies Press has been named Finalist in the Education Theory and Practice category for the 2023 PROSE Awards. The Asso- ciation of American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence (PROSE Awards) recognises the best in professional and scholarly publishing by celebrating the authors, editors, and publishers whose works have made significant advancements in their respective fields of study each year. OUTREACH School of Education instituted the first SOE Day to coincide with World Teachers’ Day on October 5. Staff from the School of Education and the Head of Department for Department of Library and Information Studies collaborated to present work- shops focused on strengthening capacity of primary educators. The event catered to seventy-nine educators, pre-service and in-service, who participated in three of the six. workshops. The workshops were as follows: • Cook, L., Cole, S . STAGING OF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES The 6 th International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education in Train- ing (TVET) in the Caribbean was held from May 16 to 19, 2023, at the Jamaica Conference Centre, Kingston, Jamaica under the theme Building Resilience for Sustainable Development in Disruptive Times.
