and Anthony Wetherall, conducted a comprehensive 3-day training session on nuclear law and its components. The sessions took place both in-person at Mon- aLaw’s Executive Seminar Room and online via Zoom each day. The course was attended by approximately eighty (80) persons daily, each of whom was awarded a certificate of participation by the IAEA. The attendees ranged from UWI Staff; UWI students from the Faculties of Law, Science and Technology, Social Sciences and Medical Sciences; members of the Jamaica Defence Force and a representative from the Korean Embassy. The University of the West Indies’ staff and students attended without charge, while all other participants were required to pay an administrative fee. Nine (9) Continuing Legal Professional Development (CLPD) credits were awarded to the attorneys who attended the training. Meetings with IAEA Delegation and UWI Nuclear Law Stakeholders – 19 Jan 2023 The team from IAEA convened a meeting with eight (8) stakeholders from UWI to discuss the potential and future plans of the established partnership. The goal was to improve education and professional development in the domain of international and national nuclear law through the UWI graduate program. Linklaters Law Firm (UK) and MonaLaw Collaboration – March 2023 The Faculty successfully shortlisted five (5) MonaLaw students for interviews with Linklaters Law Firm for their internship programme. The Firm selected three (3) students: Akil Williams, Aundrene Cameron, and Damario Patterson as success- ful candidates. The students provided remote research assistance for 8–10 hours weekly, spanning a period of 3 weeks. Dr. Natalie Corthésy, Associate Dean of Outreach and Continuing Legal Education along with the Head of Linklaters Caribbean Group, evaluated the interns at the end of the period. Partnership with City University, London The Faculty partnered with City University London on a research project on “Pro- tecting Jamaican Geographical Indications (GIs) in the European Union and the United Kingdom.” The research project, was guided by co-investigators Drs. Natalie Corthésy (MonaLaw), Enrico Bonadio and Marc Mimler, (City). The academic research paper titled “Maximizing the benefits of origin products in an emerging economy – The impact of GI protection in Jamaica” was collabora- tively prepared by the co-investigators and the research team. The research paper was published in the fifth issue of the European Intellectual Property Report 2023.
