Other initiatives undertaken to enhance student development included: • Academic writing and critical thinking skills workshops and coaching sessions in the Writing Centre (TWC) to provide support for all undergraduate and graduate students. • Change in the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) policy: Students who attained a CSEC English Language Grade 3 or below or Levels IV and V in CAPE Communication Studies should be directed to register for “Critical Reading and Writing in the Disciplines” (FOUN1019) upon entry to The UWI, Mona; however, these students should still be given the option of sitting the ELPT. This change was approved for implementation in 2023–24.
