sides in competition, and at the end of the term the CC Bulls were sitting 1st in the Year 10–11 grade, while College was 1st equal and 3rd in the senior T20 competition. College had two Year 9A sides in a very competitive grade. Playing one-day matches, the term ended with College White 3rd and College Black 5th. There were a number of notable individual performances this term, including George Ryan’s 150 off 114 balls for 3rd XI White, and Wilby Cameron’s 6 for 7 for the Colts against Sydenham Colts. Polo Three College teams – in the A, B and D grades – played in the first polo tournament for the year. Excellent weather conditions meant the day was off to a good start and matches ran to schedule. The first team on the field was the C team. They won their first match against Medbury 3–0, then lost their second match against a Christchurch combined team 2–0, which meant they played Medbury again for placings. They won 2–0 and finished second. Most Valuable Player for College for the D grade was Henry Lassen. Next up was the A grade game against a Hamilton team who had travelled down for the day. This term, the last round of two- day matches was not played and two rounds of one-day matches were not completed. The 1st XI finished 4th in their two-day competition. Midweek, the 1st XI was involved in a T20 competition. The team had wins over Christchurch Boys’ High School 2nd XI, St Andrew’s College 1st XI and Shirley Boys’ High School, before facing CBHS 1st XI in the final, a match which saw College finish 2nd. The 2nd XI had a very successful term, winning all five of their two-day matches, including their annual match against CBHS. The two 3rd XI sides finished 1st and 2nd in the 1st XI plate competition. College had four T20

some valuable preparation for the upcoming season. The opening day – a one-day match against hosts Shore School – was lost by seven wickets, and this was followed by a 10-over match the next day against Canberra Grammar School. Canberra made 61 in their 10 overs, with Harrison Lund taking two for five off his two overs, before the College batsmen chased down the total comfortably for the win. The one-day match against King’s saw the opposition score an impressive 293, which College found too tough and fell short of the target. The last match was again against Canberra. Weather affected the two-day game, which eventually turned into two shortened limited overs matches. In the first, College made 172 for 8 and bowled Canberra out for 171, and then repeated the win in a 25 over match when College scored 149 for 9 and bowled the opposition out for 122. In this match William Hocquard scored 61. The team also had annual matches against Otago Boys’ High School and Whanganui Collegiate School this term. In the OBHS match, the visitors set a very large first innings which College could not match. In the Whanganui game, College set the hosts 235 for the win, with both teams closing in on victory when stumps were drawn with Whanganui on 213 for 8.
