PR regionals, third at EOSSAA, and finishing seventh in junior long jump at the Easterns. Van Every set a new personal best for herself in long jump at the PR regional with a 4.83-metre leap. Her current personal best in triple jump is 10.6 metres and she achie- ved that at the last Dome Meet in Orléans, a week prior to the PR regionals. Her current personal best for triple jump is close to three-quarters of a metre farther than her personal record of 9.9 metres last season. Van Every figures she has a good chance of achieving a new personal best at OFSAA, thanks to some training advice from her brother, former-RDHS champion Tanner Van Every, and her regular mental preparation at the start of every track-and- field competition. “I usually go through themotions of what I’m going to do and then jump,” she said. She’s got a first-place title shot to aim for, but one other thing that Gillian Van Every is hoping to achieve at the Ontario high school track championships this week is a new personal best performance in the junior triple jump event. “I would like to jump 10.70,” Van Every said during a Monday morning interview. The Rockland District High School (RDHS) athlete is off to Belleville this week, for the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) track- and-field championships. She represents RDHS and the Eastern Region in the junior triple jump after clinching first-place title finishes in the event, this season, at the Pres- cott-Russell regional, the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Associations (EOSSAA), and the Eastern Regionals. She also represented RDHS in the junior long jump, taking first place in the event at the
