Dear Friend: We are very glad to hear of the success and blessings which came to the Bible Institute this past year. When 1 think of the goodness of the last two years it was my privilege to be there, a better year is hard to imagine. But as God is infinite, He can always give something more. My family wants to have a share in the coming year's work, both by prayer and cash, and so here is a little to help ; along [$10.00], We will join with other friends in prayer for Biola, especially on Wednesday, and sorry that we can’t be in Los Angeles to meet with the folks there.

loved fisherman-leader had been imprisoned by Herod in a fit of jealous rage. The circumstances in that instance were surely inexplicable— for Peter, preaching, had been a spiritual dynamo. So completely indwelt was he by the Spirit o f God that at Pentecost three thousand souls, hear ing his message, were won in a day. Peter behind prison bars ? The thought was preposterous! Yet the record stands: “ Peter was kept in prison,” by Herod’s authority— held temporarily inactive, that the scene o f his enslavement might be the background for the manifestation o f the mighty power o f God that should be released through believers’ united intercession. There was prayer for Peter;—“ made without ceasing of the church unto God for him” (Acts 12:5 ). With no dungeon, there could have been no deliverance. There was prayer—and the angel o f the Lord went forth, “to touch Peter, to raise him up, to emancipate him. There was prayer— and Peter, free, returned to tell his fel low believers the story o f how “ the Lord had brought him out.” ■Prayer had overcome the barrier that prison bars would raise. New Deliverance Needed The Bible Institute o f Los Angeles has been passing through an experience like that o f Peter. Especially in recent weeks, the Institute has faced serious limitations because o f lack o f funds. But when amounts sufficient to meet current expenses— including the cost o f printing the July-August issue of the K ing ’ s B usiness — were not available, “ prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God.” Wisely, the Dean and Vice-President o f the Institute, Dr. E. L. McCreery, called for a day o f prayer, to be ob served on Wednesday, July 18. He wrote a confidential letter to a number o f Institute friends, and the need for prayer was further made known through the Church o f the Open Door., The response was heartening. An earnest group gathered in the Lyceum Club Room, desiring to be used o f the Holy Spirit in prayer concerning this emer gency in the Lord’s work. These prayer partners were en couraged through the reading of letters which had been received by the Institute— scores o f communications which carried the assurance that other members o f the body o f Christ-—-“ the church”— would be sharing in the prayer for deliverance and liberty in testimony. Following are ex tracts from only a few o f those precious messages.
