MUST WE YIELD TO TEMPTATION? Luke 4:1-13; Heb. 4:15,16

and self-pleasing. This is usually done to the harm and disadvantage of others. Our own personality desires to be at the top and in the leading place. We want others to be beneath us and less than we are. There is a tendency to despise others who are not as “ wonderful” as we are. Often we desire to assert our rights and to advertise our powers and to announce our decisions. All of these temptations are offered to us and must be declined. We will lose our usefulness if we yield to them. The Christian Will Be Tempted As to Attitudes 1 Pet. 5:9 If jealousy is in the heart, then an attitude of resistance or rebellion is manifested against those works in which one has been asked to have little part. There will be the temptation to belittle that in which one has no interest, and to despise the efforts of those who are serving in other paths than our own. There is a temptation to be lazy and indifferent in the things of God. There may be lack pf interest in the spread of the gospel or in missions or in finances of Christian enterprises. All of these temptations must be resisted prayerful ly and scripturally, if the Christian is to be a blessing to others. June 11, 1959 LET'S KEEP OUR DATING CHRISTIAN! Prov. 3:1-7; 1 Cor. 19:31 One of the most difficult problems that arises in Christian associations is the matter of the proper relationship between the sexes. Satan takes advan tage of every possible occasion to pre vent normal associations and relation ships between male and female. Passion is there and sin is there and the Scrip ture calls it “ inordinate affection.” Dat ing is the normal result of normal de sires in normal human beings. The dif ficulty is not in the dating but in the misuse of the privileges and opportuni ties which dating affords. T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S

As soon as one becomes a Christian and enters into the new life in Christ Jesus he becomes the object of attack by the world, the flesh, and the devil. He becomes a “ speckled bird” among those who know him and a target for every shaft of evil. But God has pro vided for this eventuality by giving the armor described in Ephesians 6. Part of this armor is offensive and part defen sive. The Christian should be prepared against every form of evil. The Christian Will Be Tempted As to Doctrine 1 Tim. 4:16 It is absolutely essential that we as Christians believe the right thing and that we are informed concerning the great facts of Christian truth. The doc trines are the bony skeleton on which the entire Christian life hangs. We can not be right in our lives unless we are right in our doctrinal beliefs. We must be right concerning the deity of Christ, the acts of creation, the truth about hell and heaven, the certainty of salvation in Christ Jesus, the new birth, the church, the judgments, for these are the foun dation principles on which genuine Christianity must rest. The Christian Will Be Tempted As to Morals 2 Tim. 2:22 The body is never converted. The body is never born-again in this life. There is no help for the flesh found in the Scripture. The flesh will never be good or holy for “that which is bom of the flesh” remains flesh and is nothing else. We must be constantly on guard lest the flesh obtains that which it craVes. What it craves is usually wrong. The flesh lusts against the Spirit. It does not want to be spiritual nor Spirit- led. The Spirit is opposed to the flesh. We must guard against yielding to fleshly passions. The Christian Will Be Tempted As to Personality Jas. 2:1 There is always the temptation to become arrogant, proud, self-satisfied,
