priest to think for them. They desire to have their minds molded by the tradi tion of that great apostate church. In other religions the members gladly in vite leaders to make up their minds for them. God and His Word should in fluence our minds. God Should Make Up Your Mind Eccl. 12:1 The minds of men should be under the control o f the Spirit o f God. He, by means of the Word o f God, always directs the mind and heart into con structive channels of purity, honesty, dependability, and fruitfulness. He en ables one to think about sin as He does. He enables one to think about Christian service as He thinks. He enables one to estimate the value of human life as He estimates it. We should by all means look to the Holy Spirit to renew our minds as we read in Romans 12:2. You May Make Up Your Mind Phil. 4:8 It is possible and desirable that we set our minds on things that are right and pure and just and true. We may deliberately select good reading matter and topics of conversation that are valu able and proper. We may fix our at tention on good things that are inter esting, clean, and true. It is not neces sary at all that we read evil fiction or see lewd pictures or meditate on un godly activity. We may, if we so desire, think on the things that are pleasing to God and profitable to men. God holds us responsible for our thoughts. The Mob May Make Up Your Mind Ex. 23:2 The' crowd often influences the mind. It is so easy to think as others think and to follow the line o f least resistance in our mental processes. Mob psychology is always detrimental and harmful. It is not necessary to permit others to do our thinking for us. It is most unwise to permit a crowd to decide what we should think or do. The Word of God opposes it and warns against it. The results are always evil. The mob is usually wrong. We should have enough individuality to do our own thinking and not permit a mob to make our decisions. We need to stand against the multitude when the multitude is wrong. God’s Word Will Make Up Our Mind Col. 3:16 Paul advised Timothy to meditate on the Word of God and to think about it continually. The psalmist wrote that we should meditate on God’s Word day and night. The Word o f God will make us more like the Son of God and will fill our hearts with the truth of God. The great astronomer of Magstatt, Johann Kepler, cried out after discovering the harmonic laws of Heaven, “ O God! Thou hast enabled me to think Thy thoughts after Thee.” God’s Word will enlighten the mind on every legitimate subject and will lead to godly living.
