Job Purpose To undertake a professional Lead Project Management role, in delivering the Zoo’s Strategic Development Plan, on major projects from inception to completion. Establishing, planning and delivering projects within approved budgets, providing value for money and delivering to timelines to meet the Strategic Plan as agreed by the Executive and Trustees. The role will initially focus on the Grasslands and Overnight Stays projects but will lead onto the development of future SDP zones such as Forests. Dimensions The Facilities and Development (F&D) Directorate are responsible for development and delivery of the Strategic Development Plan and support the facilities management of the whole zoo estate of just over 625 acres with multiple buildings and complex assets (approx.55,000 m2 of built environment). The SDP has a number of concurrent projects of varying size and complexity from £500k to £25M. The post holder would be responsible for the delivery of the major projects, values ranging from £10-£25M, and at times be responsible for smaller schemes as workload demands. The F&D team are also responsible for maintenance and legislative compliance, the delivery of multiple minor enhancements of value up to £10,000, as well as managing major repair works of £500k per year. There are multiple projects on site at any one time within a busy live environment.

Within the F&D team, the Project Lead will lead both internal and external resources working closely with the Design Team Manager, Facilities Manager and other key stakeholders, such as the Executive and the Senior Management Team. The Project Lead will also support wider strategic development requirements and on occasions deputise for the F&D Director. The Project Lead would have line management responsibility for other internal project and construction management staff and administrative resources.
