As for the French Language Services Commis- sioner, the person in charge was completely ineffective but very expensive. Premier Ford needed to make budget cuts and decided to return that position to the Ombudsman’s office where it was originally. And finally show me evidence of the rallying cry that the “French language in Ontario is under threat”! It appears to me that it is healthier than it has ever been, but then again there is nothing like a “threat” to scare the masses, especially with a looming election and the Liberals, who need the votes, under siege. If your personal household included a massive $15B deficit, would you not try to find ways of correcting this. That is exactly what Premier Ford’s goal is. Amanda Simard
Letter to MPP Amanda Simard I am a Franco-Ontarian living in Rockland. I supported you in the last provincial election; I even had one of your signs on my lawn. We were the only house on our block to do so. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am that you left the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario to become an Independent. What happened to standing up for the community that elected you? What happened to your representation of the Anglophones in your riding, which is almost 50 per cent? I feel betrayed by your actions. You lasted just over five months in a job we elected you to do. Your election was at best disingenuous to the electorate, to Progressive Conservatives, and their leader, Mr. Ford. Some might argue fraudulent. I suppose all that is left now is to jump into the arms of the party (Liberals) of those championing your actions to make your transition complete, but I do caution you that, contrary to the popular belief that voters have a short memory, many do not. What will be your job description for the next four years? I do understand that Franco-Ontarians want to be treated fairly. Everyone should be treated fairly and with respect. However, Premier Ford cancelled three English universi- ties at the same time that he cancelled the French university, because they were
And finally my last question to you; did you run for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario this year in order to destroy it from the inside out, because this certainly appears to be the case? Lettre à l’éditeur J’ai une suggestion à présenter à notre conseil de la Cité de Clarence-Rockland. Depuis toujours, je suis un marcheur invétéré…autrefois je me baladais dans la forêt Morris…de nos jours je marche dans les rues du village Morris. Mon parcours habituel m’amène à l’étendue d’eau au pied de la montée Laviolette sur la rue St-Jean. BRAVO POUR UNE BELLE INITIATIVE ! Durant l’hiver 2017-2018, des travaux autour du ‘lac’ ont transformé le site pour le rendre de plus en plus attrayant; et ça continue, de sorte que le sentier qui entoure la nappe d’eau me permet de faire le tour et d’admirer le va-et-vient des outardes au printemps, durant l’été et jusqu’à la gelée des eaux. J’estime que dans les moments les plus forts, près d’un millier d’outardes

Potvin Ltée ou quelqu’un d’autre, je désire vous offrir mes félicitations pour cette belle initiative ! Les arbres qui ont été plantés sur la rive vont non seulement contribuer à l’embellissement du lieu, mais de plus ils assureront la stabilité du paysage grâce au réseau de racines qui s’implantera. Le site bien aménagé esthétiquement deviendra pour de nombreuses années un lieu d’attraction, mais aussi un point d’intérêt propre à notre ville. En considération de l’élément distinctif que représentent ces oiseaux embléma- tiques de notre pays, la bernache du Canada, je propose que cet endroit de prédilection soit nommé « L’ÉTANG AUX OUTARDES ».
