• Provide leadership in support of the wider Estates department’s High Performing Team initiative. • Deputise for the Director of Estates as required including for whole department activities beyond the immediate remit. Contacts: The post holder will have wide-ranging contacts across the University and externally, acting as a senior ambassador for the institution with government, local authority and senior external education and professional bodies. Context: The post provides high level professional accountability for developing and leading an integrated, coordinated approach to Estates’ planning and development based on accurate space data and policies. The post-holder is responsible for Estates’ master- planning and strategy, ensuring alignment with LMU’s developing business needs, providing a focal point for managing key stakeholder relationships and partnerships The post-holder will integrate and coordinate three currently disparate professional disciplines to ensure optimal utilisation and development of space. They will provide strategic leadership in respect of capital planning and project/programme delivery, ensuring value for money together whilst meeting critical cost, time and quality parameters. There is a need to develop effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and closer collaboration in respect of planning and development. – internal and external. Principal Challenges:

Person Specification

The post requires the managerial background and experience necessary to provide professional and strategic advice at a senior management level, to identify and implement opportunities for improvement and the management of change. • Relevant professional background and extensive experience of leading and managing major capital programmes in a complex estates environment with experience of space management. • Relevant professional qualification in construction or property sector and membership of relevant professional body. • Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience; • Experience of pivoting and flexing approaches to develop creative solutions in the face of change. • Significant change management experience and the implementation of strategic improvement plans; • Experience of leading or contributing

to estates strategy development and implementation including masterplanning, capital programme delivery, space strategy and property management. • Experience in “cradle to grave” project management; • Experience of leading, coordinating and motivating teams of internal and external construction and property professionals. • Proven experience in the procurement and management of externally contracted professional services; • Significant large-scale budgetary planning and management experience gained in a comparable context; • Very strong communication and presentation skills; • Proven influencing and negotiating skills, internally and externally at all levels; • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of stakeholder engagement and relationship management at a senior level. • Understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity • The post holder will be expected to have relevant academic qualifications and to have previously operated at a senior level.
