Preparation for the Driver Assessment

All company employed drivers will have an initial driver Assessment before employment can be offered; the driver assessment is conducted by the Driver Assessors who are trained to a high standard of driving the training is usually carried out by the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists). Once all employed drivers have received their initial assessment there will be an annual driver assessment or if there is an accident/incident regarding the driver. Traffic signs Traffic signs play a vital role in directing, informing and controlling road users, behaviour in an effort to make the roads as safe as possible for everyone. Knowledge of traffic signs is therefore essential, not just for new drivers or riders needing to pass their theory test, but for all road users, including experienced professional drivers. Pass mark 20 or over out of 28 Multi choice Theory test The multi choice test plays a vital role of the Assessment for the driver assessor, along with the Traffic signs questionnaire this builds a picture of the candidate’s knowledge and experience which is going to attend the Assessment. Pass mark 16 or over out of 20 Written Theory test The theory written test gives the Assessor a chance to explore the knowledge and experience of the candidate Pass mark 8 or more out of 12 Practical Driving Assessment The Driving Assessment will last around 90 minutes or will take place over a distance of at least 40 Km. During this time you will be expected to demonstrate your skills and Knowledge as a professional driver. The Assessment does not just come down to your driving you are also being assessed on your attitude to other road users Along with your customer service skill.  Keep within the Speed limits.  The Drive should be smooth and progressive  Good all round mirror check including blind spot check.  Use all vehicle controls  Good vehicle checks before the assessment  Display a high level of Driver skill  Demonstrate a high level of knowledge during the Traffic signs and theory assessment  Keep a clean licence avoid driving endorsements Top Tips to assist you with the Driver Assessment
