Most drivers break speed limits, an annual government survey shows 51% of drivers break the speed limit on 30mph roads at any given time and 21% break them by more than 5%.
The physics of speed are simple the faster the vehicle is driven the longer it takes to stop and if a collision takes place the more powerful the impact and the greater the likelihood of death and serious injury.
