Sam Roberts Band headline of Russell Fair

in 2002 with hit single Brother Down on its first EP album The Inhuman Condition and has released four albums and several sin- gles. The band is appearing at the Calgary Stampede and other western dates in July. Tickets (for age of majority only) will be available July 22. They will be available in

advance at Pronto in Russell. More details will soon be available at www.russellfair. com .Sam Roberts is one of many big acts the fair has attracted, including Terri Clark, Gowan, Honeymoon Suite, April Wine, and others. Russell Fair organizers are very pleased to have such a great band booked,

as well as opening act Jane’s Party. Other entertainment confirmed so far includes Fan Jam, an open mic opportu- nity with full back-up band; Switch Gear; The Front End; and Straight Up, with more confirmations expected soon. The fair runs September 5 to 8.

Sterling Sheldrick and BenWade serve United Church minister the Rev. Jack Lover- ing at the St. Andrew’s and St. Paul’s United Church strawberry social held June 25 in the church hall in Russell. The annual event features sandwiches, cake, cream and fresh strawberries. The berries are picked and donated by Rochon Gardens.
