Environ 100 par- ticipants ont pris part à la compétition, dont une soixantaine de la région. «C’est toujours un beau tir de tracteurs et pour nous, la 25e édition a été une très belle réussite», a déclaré l’organisatrice, Georgette Cayer. Près de 30 000$ en bourse ont été distribués aux gagnants des différ- entes catégories. L’événement accueillait des tirs de mini tracteurs, de tracteurs «super stock», de camions et de camions lourds. Les catégo- ries des camions 4X4 et tracteurs modifiés ont dû être annulées à cause de la pluie, dimanche. «C’est dommage d’avoir annulé des classes, mais la pluie était trop forte. On est satisfaits qu’autant de monde soit venu samedi et dimanche, avant la pluie.» La ferme Cayer a organisé cet événement en partenariat avec l’Association sportive de tire de tracteurs du Québec.

Crysler celebrating John Crysler and War of 1812

Special historical highlights include Encampment Demons- trations, Voyageur Canoes and the Militia Muster, featuring reenactors demonstra- ting lifestyles, equipment and battle tactics of the 19th century. John Crysler owned land near the St. Law- rence River, in Finch Township, in Williams- burgh Township and Mountain Township, as well as mills, shops and taverns, and ser- ved politically, but is most famous for being the militia officer who led the Battle of the Windmill near Prescott, and on whose land the Battle of Crysler’s Farm was held. Both battles were small but decisive fights of the War of 1812. Besides the historical events, there is an Optimist’s Club breakfast (7-11 a.m.), in- terdenominational blessing at 12:30 p.m., medicinal plant tour, broommaker, walking tours, live music by Pourquoi Pas, and the John Crysler Social in the evening, with din- ner, fashion show and live entertainment.

As part of the centenary of the War of 1812, the Village of Crysler plans to cele- brate John Crysler, the lumberman, mill operator and militiaman for whom the vil- lage is named, on Saturday, July 20, with a series of events.
