MEET ROBBY Our team had the chance to speak with celebrity hair stylist Robby Lariviere about his passion for all things hair and how he found himself traveling the world sharing all his beauty secrets! Follow Robby on Instagram at @robbylariviere to peek into his hair ventures and shenanigans! My skincare routine is something that I like to change up regularly – I feel like skin can start to plateau if the same products are used over and over again. So I do like to change things up, but one thing that stays consistent in my routine is face oil. I love the hydration, I love the dewiness it gives my skin, and how it almost makes my skin feel juicier WHAT’S YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE?

HOW DID YOU GET INTO HAIR & GROOMING?

I’ve always loved hair ever since I was a little boy. My first job was working as a receptionist at a hair salon in my hometown and I just loved the environment. I loved seeing how happy the ladies were once they were leaving with their hair all done up. They would come in sad but left with the happiest and widest of smiles on their faces and the most beautiful hair. I knew then that it was definitely the right business for me. Watching the beauty work from the outside in has been such a wonder.

You know I think it goes back to my love of beauty and my love of wanting both men and women to feel as good as these products are going to make them look! I just want people to be happy and look beautiful. WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR HOSTING COME FROM? ABSOLUTELY. Most men don't know that skincare is everything! Makari has great products for men as well! IS IT IMPORTANT FOR MEN TO HAVE A SKINCARE ROUTINE? Honestly, it would be anything that evens out my skin tone. I’ve been loving tanning drops – I put a few drops in my oil or moisturizer for my face and it gives my skin a happy, healthy glow. On top of that, anything that makes my skin glow is definitely a beauty must have for me! WHAT’S A BEAUTY MUST-HAVE?

HOW DID THAT LEAD TO HOSTING ON HSN & QVC?

Well, it all happened very organically. I began representing products from overseas here in the states and that was done through an amazing beauty guru and publicist, Mandi Lebbos, who was able to bring Australian brands to the United States and utilize me as the spokesperson. And I was really able to use my gift of gab with my clients behind the chair and have that translate very seamlessly to being in front of the camera. I was then hired by a major haircare company to be their international spokesperson and I’ve been doing that for the past 6 years.

WHERE HAVE YOU TRAVELED? WHERE’S YOUR FAVORITE?

ANY BEAUTY VENTURES COMING?

I’ve been all over! I’ve been to Russia, Germany, Australia, Canada and soon to be Japan! Typically I would be traveling to all these places but with it being COVID, I’ve been able to reach people near and far from the comfort of my living room with the help of a ring light. I do miss travel though, especially to Australia – Australia’s my favorite.

Anything is possible!

ANY DREAM CLIENTS?

Adele – I would go easy on her!

HOW TO

3. Invest in a Humidifier Reinvite moisture back into your home or oce with a humidifier! Although the cold and dry air outside is something that we mere mortals have no say in, we do have the chance to bring moisture back inside! We recommend turning on the humidifier as soon as your turn on your heat for the best results as the dry heat will also harm your skin. 4. Repair Your Summer Skin with Vitamin C Before we get into the heavy creams and all, we must repair the potential damage that our sunny summer has caused. After being kept at home for months on end, we all couldn’t wait to bask in that warm sunshine to get back that summer glow but some of us might have left summer and entered fall with sun damage. Our skin might need some rescuing from dark spots, uneven tones and fine lines so throw your skin a life saver by adding a Vitamin C-rich formula to your routine. 5. SPF baby! Sunscreen isn’t just for summer! The sun isn’t completely gone in the colder months! We’re not living in total darkness. Heck, even on rainy days the sun is still there hiding behind the clouds, and you never know when it’s going to peak out! While you may have used a thick SPF-heavy sunscreen in the summer, now’s the time to switch over to not only something lighter but most definitely something that is broad spectrum. Here’s why. SPF only covers UVB rays which have a shorter wavelength and are associated with sun burns. Wearing a high level of SPF is super important in the summer but as it gets colder your best bet is to switch to a broad-spectrum sunscreen that covers UVA rays as well. These are the sneaky pesky rays that are much worse in winter – they’re longer and are associated with skin aging. It’s hard to feel the full eects of these rays since we’re already being blasted with cold air. Make the switch to a lighter broad-spectrum sunscreen that you can wear daily under your moisturizer. 6. Swap Out Clay Masks for a Hydrating Mask The final drying stage of clay masks is drawing moisture out from the skin and in these harsh winter months that’s the last thing your skin needs. Ditch those clay masks and find something hydrating and soothing that will breathe life back into your skin. If you are in the market for a clay mask, look for one that is made from Kaolin or white clay, a lighter clay that’s not as harsh. Additionally, do your research to find masks that truly are hydrating and won’t leave you dry and splotchy.

It’s ocially autumn and with the change of the season comes a change in skincare! The transition from summer to fall skincare is an important one – the air begins to change and with that so does our skin! The further we get into the autumn the colder and dryer the air becomes. All the sticky summer humidity is gone, and we’re left with dry itchy skin. But just because the sweet summer sun and warm days are past us it doesn’t mean our glowing skin has to be kissed goodbye as well! Here’s the keyword: moisture. Stick with us and we’ll show you the most important skincare tips and tricks to make this your most hydrated fall and winter yet!

BEST SKINCARE PRODUCTS FOR FALL

1. Thicker Moisturizer As mentioned above, the weather is changing and so is our skin. Therefore, we should change our skincare routines as well. Our skin begins to lose moisture this time of year due to the cold dry air and the best way to combat that is to bring moisture back into your routine! Let’s start with the face. Leave those lightweight summer creams behind and bring on the heavy, rich, nourishing moisturizers! Bring back that baby soft skin with ceramides, the essential and super healthy fatty acids. They’re naturally occurring but we need to make sure to replenish them in the colder months. These acids act as protection for your skin’s barrier against dryness and irritation. A significantly lower level of ceramides can also lead to Eczema, a super itchy and irritating condition that everyone should hope to avoid. And don’t forget the rest of your body! While your face is highly important, we can’t forget the rest of your body! Just as your face will start to feel dry and itchy, so will the rest of you. Look for a rich moisturizer to use daily to lock in the moisture! 2. Cut Back on Exfoliating While exfoliating can refresh your skin and get rid of all the grime that your everyday routine can’t wash away, it’s important to limit your exfoliation during the colder months. Over-exfoliating can lead to tiny cracks in the barrier of your skin which can lead to a larger loss of hydration and inflammation. If you notice that your skin is perpetually inflamed, irritated, itchy and in pain, then you’re most likely harming your skin rather than healing it. To avoid treating your skin too harshly, try glycolic treatment pads or a mask no more than once a week. This’ll help remove discoloration from the summer sun.

HOW TO

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SKIN TO ADJUST TO A NEW ROUTINE? It can take 1-3 months for your skin to adjust to a new skincare routine. While it might be easier to just test something for a few days and say ‘nope!’ you’re not actually giving your skin a chance to entertain the true benefits of the product.

Maskne Treatments Some companies have started selling products kits that target the acne people get from wearing a mask every day. While you can still find products with the right ingredients to tackle those bumps and scars, you can buy a whole line of products dedicated to combatting the specific issue. Increase in Sun Protection As we’ve learned, sun protection is of utmost importance and it’s great to see that skincare and beauty companies are making a push for SPF in day-to-day products. Try a foundation or lip balm even that has SPF in it! Or look out for pre- and post-sun protection products that contain antioxidants such as aloe and vitamin C. Skinimalism More and more people are adopting lighter skincare routines as they begin to embrace their skin’s natural texture. From less products to maybe just smarter ones that cut your skincare routine in half, find what works for you but make sure to read all the ingredients, do your research and talk to a dermatologist. Personalized Skincare Why go through the hassle of trying to find just the right combination of products when you can sign up for a customized subscription? Keep it easy and simple with fewer products – products that are made for your specifically.

Gold is everywhere. From alcohol and chocolate to furniture, architecture, clothing, and art. We think of gold as decorative, to make things look luxurious as gold has roots in politics, royalty, and ancient cultures from around the world. It was rumored that the streets in America were paved with gold. Men moved to California in 1849 to partake in the Gold Rush with hopes and dreams of finding even one nugget. Gold is everywhere. Even in skincare. WHY IS THERE GOLD IN SKINCARE? IS IT GOOD FOR MY SKIN AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

While the idea of gold in skincare might sound crazy, once you learn about the benefits, you’ll be stocking up on every gold skincare product you can get your hands on!

So why is gold in skincare? Well, there are so many important properties within gold. Its natural properties reduce acne, even out pigmentation and soothe sensitive skin. Gold is magical on the cellular level. Gold activates Basal cells which create new skins, pushing the old dead skin cells up and o from the inside out. Pushing out the dead and old results in fresher, more elastic skin along with the fading of marks, spots, line, and wrinkles. Gold has antibacterial properties that work wonders on ulcers and other inflammations, reducing swelling, removing redness, and rejuvenating the skin. It was even used in Ancient Egypt to treat skin inflammations, making it a classic skincare trick! Gold is typically a safe ingredient in skincare but just to be safe, it’s best to proceed with caution when incorporating a new ingredient into your routine. As it regenerates skin cells, pushing out the old and dead, gold is recommended for everyone, but especially those with sensitive skin, hyperpigmentation, and acne scarring. It helps to repair the damage while adding a radiant glow. Gold is also highly recommended for those who live in cities because it combats environmental aggressors and daily pollutants. WHAT SKIN TYPES IS GOLD GOOD FOR?

OKAY TO MIX WITH:

DON’T MIX WITH:

Retinols: an intense aid to skincare issues such as fine lines. Dermatologists highly recommend avoiding gold into your skincare routine if you’re already using retinol and AHAs in it as both are very intense. If you do choose to use retinol and gold, try alternating between the two at night to avoid potential irritation.

Peptides: repair the skin’s barrier. Collagen is an important skincare peptide because it works as the support structure of your skin. Antioxidants: the main way to address, prevent, and even sometimes correct free radical damage to the skin. Gold nanoparticles are thought to help other ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin, enhancing its eects.

AHAs: an irritating exfoliant that can leave your skin more sensitive than you found it.

Leave your skin looking not only radiant but refreshed with our 24K Gold Multi-Purpose Dry Oil. With the gold particles providing the regeneration of cells, you’ll find your body glowing and silky smooth. Illuminate your body, face and even your hair with a small drop of the oil and watch as it begins to work its magic! MAKARI PRODUCTS TO TRY:
