It’s that time of year when the weather gets cooler and the sun is out a little less. It’s important to remember to look after your health at this time as it’s easy to forget; Message from Kerrie G
The cooler, drier air can make your skin flaky and itchy. Ensure that the staff help you put moisture cream on to help with keeping your skin hydrated We often forget to drink in the cooler months as it’s not hot. However, it’s important to keep your hydration up. Ask the staff for a hot cuppa, a hot chocolate or warm milo. Don’t forget the café mornings where Lee and her team will make you your favourite hot drink Don’t overheat. Even though its cooler, having your heater on too high or having too many clothes on can overheat you – leading to dehydration and feeling unwell. Have your heater on 24 degrees and pop on a singlet and jumper/cardy that you can easily take off if you get too warm Winter is a great time to get into activities such as exercise classes or walking. Join in Donna’s exercise classes or talk to Wes about joining one of his classes during the week It’s also a perfect time to go and sit in the sun and get some fresh air and Vitamin D. Winter is a lovely time of year, ask your family or care staff to help you enjoy it! Kerrie G Clinical Care Coordinator
