Community Happenings Autumn Intergenerational Bonds in Full Bloom

Autumn brought with it many heartwarming moments as we continued our treasured weekly and fortnightly visits from the delightful children at Oak Tree Academy. Their laughter, music, and craftwork lit up our halls, from Easter bonnet decorating and the lively chicken dance, to a memorable “minute-to-win-it” challenge filled with cheering, camaraderie, and ping pong chaos. The joy shared between generations has fostered an environment of vibrant energy and emotional warmth that our residents cherish deeply.

Unique Themed Events and Talent Showcases One of the season’s most imaginative highlights was our Titanic Day commemoration. Residents enjoyed a screening of the Titanic film, a high tea, and a historically themed lunch recreating the actual ship’s menu. Interactive displays like an iceberg touch station and a real coal piece brought history to life. Jeannette’s win of the Titanic-themed diamond art prize added extra sparkle to an already special day. We also attended the Lions’ Community Concert at the Woodford Memorial Community Centre, where a host of talented musicians brought smiles and toe-tapping joy to residents. Ariana returned to sing at both our Mother’s Day and 10-year celebrations; her performances are fast becoming a favourite among residents and staff alike. 5
