In another well-deserved win, Eclipse Controls scooped top place as Specialist Contractor of the Year. Since the company’s inception in 2015, as Ireland’s only Value-Added Partner for the Signify (formerly Philips) Dynalite range of lighting controls, Eclipse has expanded its operation to cover all aspects of building lighting control systems and specialist and emergency lighting systems. Eclipse has also expanded its portfolio in recent years, partnering with world class manufacturers that include ABB Emergi-Lite systems, ABB i-Bus KNX, Signify Colour Kinetics, Signify Luminous Surfaces and Pharos Architectural Controls. As part of its submission, Eclipse Controls included detailed specifications on its works to Dublin Airport Terminals and Campus Buildings. The company provided a full lighting controls package with a fully customised graphical front-end tailored to the clients’ on-site facilities and maintenance teams requirements. Judges remarked that it presented a “good technical submission” and that they liked how the company continually review the market trends, requirements and offerings to ensure it offers its clients the very best solutions available in the market, both now and into the future. Eclipse Controls works with a broad range of clients that include specifying engineers, electrical contractors, building owners, government bodies, facilities management firms, and residential audio-visual installers.

Apex Fire Ltd were named overall winner in this category as the judging panel felt the company had worked on a range of very impressive contracts. Apex Fire Ltd have been operating since 1973 and are part of the Moyne Roberts Group, one of Europe’s leading producers of portable fire extinguishers, hose reels and fire fighting equipment. Through the contractors’ nationwide network of a professional and competent team, it provides unparalleled services and products to comply with the most up-to-date regulatory Fire and Security acts, including training and security solutions which help to protect the lives, property and valuable assets of all its customers in an affordable and efficient way. During discussion, the judges commented on the impressive entry submission and project. The company submitted St. Vincent’s hospital as its entry project which is a live hospital, and this of course was not without its problems due to the recent pandemic. When working on site, it was vital to keep areas hermetically sealed to ensure there were no infection control issues. Apex were instructed to complete the programming of the fire alarm system with a number of major issues using the old technology DOS based software to the newer windows-based software. Congratulations to all the team at Apex Fire Ltd on a very deserving victory.
