ined we would grow to be one of the largest window and door manufacturers in North Amer- ica,” said Steve Chen , Crystal president. “We owe our success to our loyal trade customers who partner with us to bring quality fenestration to the built environment, and to our dedicated employees who find the best fenestration solutions for our customer projects and provide exemplary service.” The Chen family, who im- migrated to America almost 40 years ago from Taiwan, started Crystal Windows in a small commercial garage space

in Queens. The company began fabricating aluminumwindows for the local neighborhood con- tractors, and soon expanded to offer vinyl windows. Over the years, Crystal launched new production operations with facilities in Chicago, Union, MO; Riverside, CA; and Scran- ton, PA. The company now has almost one million s/f of manu- facturing space, more than 750 employees nationwide, and its products are distributed in over 40 states. “Crystal is very proud of its product line of energy efficient windows and doors for every

building application,” said Chen. “But we are not resting on our laurels. We have several new products to introduce that will be in line with the next generation of energy efficiency that building and home owners expect.” To celebrate the 30th Anni- versary, Crystal has planned events with its employees, customers, and business af- filiates. Marketing promo- tions, enhanced advertising in publications and across social media platforms, and special customer giveaways are also part of the yearlong birthday

celebration. In other news, Crystal Window & Door Systems, the award-winning national manufacturer is pleased to announce that its Magnus Series 4500 uPVC commer- cial vinyl window has been designated class A, the top category, for fire performance properties. Samples of the Crystal Magnus window were recently submitted to a certi- fied independent test labora- tory for testing according to ASTME84-18b Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and received the top tier results. “Vinyl windows have been used in low-rise structures for many decades,” said Steven Yu , marketing manager for Crystal. “Now commercial re- inforced vinyl is rapidly gain- ing popularity for higher-rise properties due to the great en- ergy efficiency characteristics and strength. This testing con- firms the superb fire perfor- mance qualities of our Magnus vinyl windows.” The recently introduced Crystal Magnus Series 4500 product line has achieved structural ratings up to AW-PG70 and outstanding thermal performance as low as 0.20 U-values. The window line is increasingly popular and has been used in notable projects around the nation. The ASTM E84-18b stan- dard procedure tests for how quickly a building material spreads a flame across its sur- face and how much smoke de- velops from the material in a fire situation. The test results yield a Flame Spread Index (FSI) and Smoke Developed Index (SDI), which translates to a designation under Inter- national Building Code (IBC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) criteria as class A, B, or C. Crystal’s Magnus Series 4500 uPVC window FSI and SDI test results place it in class A for its surface burn characteristics based on the IBC and NFPA 101:Life Safety Code and NFPA 5000:Building Construction and Safety Code. Crystal Window & Door Systems is one of the top 30 manufacturers in North America of replacement and new construction vinyl and aluminum window and door products and high-end fenes- tration systems. 
