B reedon Ireland, a leading construction materials group, secured the ready- mix concrete package for the prestigious Ewart project in Belfast. Formerly known as Whitemountain and Lagan, the recently rebranded Breedon Ireland – which is part of the Breedon Group – comprises the construction materials and contracting services in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Breedon Ireland designed and supplied over 12,000 m3 of concrete (more than 1,500 truck loads) of high strength concrete. Phelim Conlan, Sales Manager for Breedon Ireland stated, “Due to its city centre location, meticulous planning went into the delivery of materials. Our unique Concrete App was used by McAleer &
spectacular 17 storeys, much of the concrete had to be pumped from ground level. This was successfully achieved with the help of our Technical team, which constantly monitored and adjusted slump results to ensure the concrete was perfect when being placed.” Phelim added, “We are pleased to have helped McAleer & Rushe transform the skyline in Belfast once again.”

PARTITIONS, LINING AND CEILING SYSTEMS Commenting on the completed project, Andrew Montgomery Managing Director
C CL was responsible for installing a range of partition, lining and ceiling systems to the original Ewart building and the newly built 16-floor tower extension. Working with British Gypsum, Rockwool and SAS International systems, CCL provided solutions to meet the building’s requirements in terms of aesthetics, acoustics and fire safety. Once installed, all British Gypsum systems were given a skimmed or dry lined finish.
