Russell fair: harvesting excitement since 1858!

Good old-fashioned country fun, food and entertainment is to be expected fromThur- sday, Sept. 7 to Sunday, Sept. 10: That’s when this year’s 159th edition of the Russell Fair comes to the Russell Fair Grounds! Music lovers will be excited by the news that this year’s Friday night concert will fea- ture two of Canada’s best tribute bands –The Road Apples, Canada’s premiere tribute to The Tragically Hip andThe Summer of ’69, playing all the hits of Bryan Adams. And concert goers will get an extra treat this year – the show will take place under a massive tent being set up in the north base- ball diamond. The arena will be taken over by a four on four-hockey tournament! What else is new? First of all, the very popular Education Day is being extended to two days this year, Friday and Saturday. The Craft Beer Fest, held for the first time last year, is also being expanded so fair-goers can enjoy evenmore local and regional thirst-quenching beve- rages. Beer lovers are invited to enjoy the taste of a cold one on Saturday, Sept. 9, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. On top of all this, kids and adults alike will be thrilled to witness Live ProWrestling on Sunday, Sept. 10, as the Russell Fair is bringing inTheMightyMini’s championship wrestling. It’s a family-friendly event that, according to organizers, is sure to entertain! Last but not least, the ultimate aerial show

60s dance party in Embrun A special evening with a live band, celebrating 60s music with tints of rock, surf and pop music will take place on September 16, as a fundrai- ser for the Russell Sports Dome. People are invited to come and relive some fond memories, by dressing in costumes that represents the 60s (Hippies, Beatles, Batman, etc…). Prizes will be given for the best costumes. All those interested may get their tickets at Pierre & Fils, Embrun or Pronto, Russell. Tickets will also be available at the door. Doors open at 7:30pm. Corporate tables of eight may be bought, and individuals may also purchase tables.
