The very first propeller-driven aircraft to land at Hobart Airport in 1956 seated just 44 passengers and took two and half hours from Melbourne! Today, we welcome close to three million passengers a year with flight routes connecting across Australia and internationally. We support the transport of high-quality freight including fresh Tassie produce, as well as operating as Australia’s Antarctic aviation gateway, supporting logistics and research programs.
Since opening in 1956, Hobart Airport has played a vital role in connecting Tasmanians with opportunities across Australia and has supported the growth of Tasmania’s visitor economy. Built on humble farmland, the airport has evolved into a key piece of Tasmanian infrastructure,
