Regional Tasmania to benefit from busy events calendar Business Events Tasmania (BET) is looking ahead to a busy few months, with a strong pipeline of business events set to bring in an influx of delegates. From August to September, Tasmania is expected to welcome around 6800 delegates attending 34 events and conferences. This activity represents a 104 per cent increase in delegate numbers and a 55 per cent increase in events held when compared with the same period last year. Regional Tasmania is set to see heightened activity, with several events dispersing delegates to all corners of the state. Regional highlights include the ANCOLD Tailings Dam Operators Forum 2026, which will bring 100 delegates to Devonport from 1–3 September. During the three-day program, delegates will take part in site tours to the Rosebery Mine and Renison Tin Mine on the West Coast.
Launceston will also see strong activity, welcoming around 500 delegates over the period. This includes the Australia-New Zealand Society of Palliative Medicine National Conference, which is set to attract 300 health professionals and aged care providers from 24-29 September. In the south, Hobart and surrounds will welcome approximately 5800 delegates across 27 conferences and events. This includes the 70th Meeting of the International Whaling Commission, which will bring 600 international and interstate delegates to the city over six days, from 27 September to 2 October.

Hobart will also host 164 delegates participating in incentive programs across the region. This type of activity presents valuable opportunities for Tasmania’s hospitality industry, with incentive travel continuing to be the highest-yielding market in the business events sector. We know that incentive travellers spend an average of $1347 per delegate per day – a considerable increase on the spend of the typical leisure visitor. On the East Coast, The Shellfish Futures Conference 2026 is expected to draw 125 delegates from 27–28 August.
