For Sullivan’s Ledge Landfill solar installation Pro-Tech Energy Solutions receives Pv Project of Distinction Award
oores town , NJ — Pro-Tech Energy Solutions recently completed a 1.7 megawatt (MW) solar instal- lation on the capped Sulli- van’s Ledge landfill in New Bedford, MA. At the 2015 PV America East Conference, Pro-Tech received the 2015 PV Project of Distinction Award, along with project partners BlueWave Capital and SunEdison . Presented by the Solar Energy In- dustries Association and the Solar Electric Power Association , the award rec- M
ognizes major achievements in the solar industry in the Northeastern United States. Pro-Tech served as the en- gineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm that designed and installed the project. The Sullivan’s Ledge land- fill is a 12 acre, city-owned landfill. The project is the first solar installation to be completed on a remediated U.S. Environmental Protec- tion Agency (EPA) Superfund site. According to BlueWave Capital, the solar developer of the project, the Sullivan’s
Ledge project’s economic and environmental benefits will save the city of New Bedford more than $3 million over a 20-year contract, while gen- erating carbon reductions equivalent to taking 352 cars off the road. “We are delighted to be part of the team that received this year’s PV Project of Distinc- tion Award. It’s an honor to partner with industry lead- ing companies like BlueWave and SunEdison to create a first of its kind project like Sullivan’s Ledge. This project turns an otherwise unus- able piece of ground into a site that will provide clean, renewable energy and sig- nificant cost savings to the city of New Bedford,” said Guy Winters , chief operat- ing officer of Pro-Tech Energy Solutions. “The success of the Sul- livan’s Ledge landfill project is a direct result of the collec- tive and collaborative efforts of SunEdison, BlueWave and Pro-Tech,” said Dan Alcombright , vice president of operations of SunEdison, a global leader in PV systems for municipal, federal, state, commercial and utility cus- tomers, and project financing partner. “It is a great honor to receive this award.” “We are proud to receive this award with SunEdison and Pro-Tech,” said Aidan Foley , managing director of BlueWave Capital. “Pro-Tech was an exceptional partner in making this project suc- cessful and the work they performed was of the highest quality and professionalism.” The New Bedford project is part of a series of recent Pro-Tech successes that in- cludes the installation of solar power plants totaling approximately 60 MW over the past 12 months, includ- ing approximately 40 MW in Massachusetts alone. In addition to this most re- cent honor, Pro-Tech was the EPC firm of record for the The Union County Solar Initiative in Union County, NJ. in 2013, which also received the PV Project of Distinction Award, and for BrooklynWhole Foods Market with partners SunE- dison and Solaire Generation, which was awarded both the Intersolar Award for Projects in North America and the SPG Award for the Best US Solar Project in 2013. n
