y Nearly half of all associations (49%) have neither adopted nor considered adopting a new membership model within the past five years. y A membership decline is often a motivation to consider a new membership model. - 38% of associations experiencing a five-year decrease have considered a new membership model, significantly higher than associations experiencing an increase in membership (29%). y Adopting a new membership model may give associations a bump in new members. - Associations experiencing an increase in new members are more likely to have adopted a new model (22% vs. 14% among those whose new member rate has declined/stayed the same).
y However, tinkering with a membership model may not resolve the problem of lower renewal rates. - Among those with lower renewal rates (<80%), 20% have adopted a new membership model. - However, among associations with a higher renewal rate (80%+), only 17% have felt the need to adopt a new membership model in the past five years.
