Ballyrisode Beach, located 11km west of Schull on the Mizen Peninsula, is a scenic, sheltered sandy beach. It is popular for safe swimming, kayaking, and family visits due to its calm, crystal-clear water. The area features two small sandy coves, rocky spots for exploring, and a mobile sauna.

Cadogan’s Strand is a lovely little beach located 500m east of Schull Town. It is located very close to Schull Town and so allows locals and visitors to Schull to have a safe, clean beach away from the busy harbour.

The nearest town to the pier is Kilcrohane, and it is very suitable for swimming and diving as it is a sheltered pier. Access to the sea is via steps. It is very popular for fishing as there are plentiful supplies of mackeral. It is also a popular picnic spot.

Garnish Beach is at the southern tip of the Beara peninsula. It is a white sandy beach with beautiful views over Dursey Island and Garnish Bay.

Galley Cove beach is located on the eastern side of the Mizen Head Peninsula in West Cork, approx. 1.5km south west of Crookhaven. Galley Cove Beach is a sandy east facing beach, approx 120m long. The beach backs onto extensive sand dunes.

Red Strand is a much‑loved sandy beach located near Clonakilty and close to the dramatic outcrop of Dunnycove Bay in West Cork. Known for its wide, gently sloping shoreline and sheltered waters, it’s a popular choice for families, swimmers and walkers seeking a peaceful coastal escape. The beach offers beautiful views across the bay, easy access from the nearby road and plenty of space for picnics or leisurely seaside strolls. Its quiet atmosphere and scenic surroundings make it a favourite stop along this stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Silver Strand on Sherkin Island is a beautiful sandy beach with sweeping views across Roaringwater Bay to Cape Clear and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Sheltered and tranquil, it’s ideal for swimming, picnics and coastal walks, offering a peaceful island escape just minutes from the ferry, with unforgettable sunsets in summer months.
