Inspired by Magritte and his habit of depicting con- flict in the landscape between foreground and sky light levels (Night and Day). Here I have tried to create an air of ambiguity whereby the trees in the foreground appear lit by an intense invisible sun. Paint wise I have included a unique metallic oil paint in the foliage of the trees that creates an incred- ibly vivid effect. Paint ranges from thick ‘impasto’ layers to thin washes. Artist: Daniel Gibert Perez I am an artist based in Barcelona, Spain. My works are part of figurative minimalism. I seek to communicate ideas, feelings, and emo- tions with the minimum possible elements. I seek to express deep ideas through flat colors in compositions where the human being is a simple spectator. I am fascinated by the sea, the sky, and the light of the Mediterranean. My paintings seek to express the admiration of man against nature. My desire to transmit a mixture of calm, reflection, and respect for the environment. I seek to create works that are calm, pleasant, honest, and quick to understand. Statement: This work expresses freedom and innocence. It seeks to freeze a small moment of joy and carefreeness. I chose a girl because at that time of life everything is pure and true. Artist: Olga Bolgar I don’t remember when I started to be an artist. I liked to draw from a very young age I started like most children with color pencils, drawing princesses or animals and all that came to my mind. Step by step, I became interested in drawing nature. I didn’t know where to start. I decided to go to a local art studio. It was 1987. Since then I’ve been drawing and painting and haven’t stopped learning about art. I like the process of creation. It makes life meaningful. I like to think about the colors and shapes of future art piece. I like to try different art mediums such as oil, watercolors, pastel, ink, charcoal, pencil etc. I like the process of mixing colors, which is similar to cooking. I like when the air is perfumed with the scent of oil from my paintings. When I paint in the surrealistic style, I cogitate on a main idea which takes my fancy and intertwines with my emotions about subject. Then I do a lot of sketches. When I paint landscapes, I am drawn to wide open nature where I watch for shades, light and mid-tones. I am looking for contrasts and nuances of cold and warm colors. I am achieving lots of “air” in the painting to give the eye an illusion of three dimensions. When I working on a portrait, I am trying to reveal the personality of the portrayed person. I can work a piece intently a hundred times over before it is just right. Artist: Olga Bolgar, American Oil on Canvas Board Title: Figure II 40.64 x 30.48 x 0.25 cm Lot: 172 Starting bid: $450 USA

Artist: Francien Krieg Statement: She stands within the confines of a closet, surrounded by a cabinet of curiosities. These evocative creations capture a melancholic mood, revealing the inner struggle of a soul torn between her desire for freedom and the weight of her own uniqueness. The young woman, a delicate figure lost amidst the labyrinthine world of oddities, finds herself becoming an integral part of this collection of curiosities. The artifacts that surround her speak of forgotten stories and untold mysteries, their presence both fascinating and overwhelming. They become a mirror of her own complexity, their peculiarities reflecting the fragments of her own identity. Yet, while she is entranced by the allure of these curiosities, she cannot escape the suffocating sense of confinement. The closet that envelopes her becomes a symbol of her own limitations, a physical manifestation of the psychological boundaries she feels. The solitude within its walls weighs upon her, and she longs for the vastness of open spaces, yearning to break free from the confines that bind her. As we delve deeper into the series, we are invited to contemplate the nature of our own existence. Are we merely observers of the world’s curi- osities, or are we also the curiosities ourselves? Are we defined by the external forces that surround us, or do we possess the power to transcend them?In this collection of artworks, the young woman standing in the closet serves as a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between fascination and confinement, between embracing our individuality and yearning for liberation. Judy Steffens is a Central Illinois artist working from her studio at home. Judy is a figurative realist oil painter. Each of Judy’s paintings depicts a visual encounter that she has experienced and which sparked her imagination. Her work demonstrates an intimacy with the subject and thoughtful story-telling.Judy was interested in art at an early age. Judy recalls drawing horses at her school desk as a young second grader. She would find inspiration from the illustrations in the books of C.W. Anderson, Wesley Dennis, and others, which lined her bookshelves. She would spend hours studying and copying those drawings.Inspired by the revolutionary fashion trends of the 1960’s, Judy found new inspiration for her drawings. What started as designing outfits in the margins of her notebooks in school turned into a focus and in- terest in drawing people, which is a consistent theme throughout Judy’s decades of practice.Judy earned her Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Bradley University. In 2010 and 2011 Judy and her husband lived in Florida. They were lucky enough to rent a studio condo on the beach. Daily proximity to the beach provided the the inspiration that led to her colorful and serene beach themed works.

Statement: I often go to the beach by the sea to see children playing, and this is one of them, on the beach, blue sky and white clouds, there are kids calls. A group of kids, desperately chasing and running towards the distance. Gold seems to be jumping and running, and it seems that it will never catch up. Until I was too tired to run, I dug a hole on the beach, and the stream slowly soaked in, first turbid, then clear, and a pool of sweet water formed when there was less neck. When the kids dug the sand pit, the sand left on their hands also shone like gold. Whenever I discover new scenes of children playing, it can inspire my painting inspiration.
