the morning fog burns away be­ fore the warming sun. Again the blessedness of the Lord’s presence filled a weary heart. Before the last notes o f the song spread up and down the riv­ er, this pastor felt renewed in spirit, to match the refreshment in body enjoyed in this lovely lit­ tle Eden. Before the tears had dried off his face, there was a readiness to return again to the people o f his church—his people and their problems, but also his problems.

and the convenience of a rolling home. The Wiltseys park their own trailer overlooking the dock throughout the summer and fall months. Each morning of our stay the rising sun did double duty, blunt­ ing the chill of the morning and burning off the lifting wisps of fog. Soon the kingfishers and gulls began their daily, low-level fo­ rays up and down the river, loud­ ly disputing possession o f a frog or unwary minnow. An occasional salmon jumped in the river, while boats full of optimists patiently trolled lures up and down. Every time a fish is caught, the neighbor rings a large brass bell from an old rail­ road engine. At the height of the season, the bell clangs dozens of times daily as huge salmon are hooked and boated. Once a jump­ ing salmon landed on the dock and was promptly bagged by an excited camper without benefit of hook. Is there a moment of renewal amid such pleasant surroundings,

a precise moment when the heart grows lighter for the troubled pastor? For this writer, the answer must be a decided “yes” . The mo­ ment of lifting came while stand­ ing on the green lawn which grows to the edge of the river bank, bordered with a long row of red and yellow flowers in bloom. The Taiwan Heavenly Melody Singers were on the record player with stereo speakers on the lawn for the benefit o f boaters on the river. Down on the dock the boys were happily working to catch their one hundredth bullhead. Behind the little red guest house the smoker filled with a dozen salmon had just been stoked with green alder wood. It would be some moments before needing at­ tention. Then it happened! The record player changed to the ever-lovely “ Saviour, Like a Shepherd, Lead us,” sung by the Taiwanese Sing­ ers. At that moment the mind-fog and weight o f the whole world of the pastorate lifted as easily as
