Through out, the book is lucid and often practical, looking at a phrase from various standpoints as a bride turns a diamond to see many aspects of its beauty. For expositions o f Scripture re lating to tongues, The Modem Tongues Movement by Robert G. Gromacki (Presbyterian and Re formed, $4.50) is a helpful study. The author, recipient of the mas ter’s degree at Dallas Seminary and doctorate at Grace Seminary, is detailed on tongues in history, nature of the modem movement, and relevant passages in Mark, Acts, and Corinthians. The work shows knowledge in the Greek and depth of insight into some matters. He contends that tongues ceased in the first century, and views the phrase “ that which is perfect” (I Cor. 13) as meaning the canon o f Scripture completed in early times. BE M A Y , 1968
