of staying safe is ensuring you have a solid plan that prevents you and your family from driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs,” he said. “Combined with the dedication of our frontline officers, our collective efforts can significantly help keep you and your loved ones safe on our roads during the holidays and throughout the year.” Those with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05 or higher, or who fails a roadside sobriety test faced a three-day license sus- pension and a $250 fine for first offences, as well as a $281 license reinstatement fee. The same penalties applied to drivers under 21, novice or commercial drivers with any trace of alcohol in their system. Anyone who refused a drug or alcohol test, had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 or were found to be impaired by a drug recognition evaluator faced a 90-day license suspension, seven-day vehicle impoundment, and $550 fine. Harsher penalties were imposed for repeated offenders. “The decision to get behind the wheel impaired can be a matter of life and death,” Ontario Solicitor General Sylvia Jones said. “We all want a safe and happy holiday sea- son, and it is important to remind our friends and family to plan ahead and make alter- native arrangements to get home safely.”
Police will ramp up spot checks to ensure motorists are keeping sober during the silly season. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched the festive season Reduced Impai- red Driving Everywhere, or RIDE, campaign last Thursday. Between now and January 3, police will boost the number of mandatory alcohol screening tests on drivers. Under the law, police can demand a breath sample from any driver, regardless of whether or not they reasonably suspect the motorist has alcohol in their system. Drug screening equipment that can detect cannabis and cocaine in a driver’s saliva will also be used during the campaign. Forty-two people have died so far this year on OPP-patrolled roads in crashes linked to impaired driving. Last year’s holiday season campaign led to 605 charges across the province. OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique asked drivers to stay safe over the holidays, especially in treacherous conditions. “As Ontarians celebrate this physically distanced holiday season, an important part

In June this year, Sudipta passed away. But before she died, she made her Panna promise “to take care of the people” and continue their Christmas dinner tradition. Those advisory programs are also available to more-established small- business owners who need help with some business basics. “Some people do need help with doing up a business plan,” said Candie, adding that the agency can also offer help with improving basic record-keeping for small business accounts or applying for an HST number that most SMEs now need to help with applications for senior-level government aid programs. The PRCFC will have an online support link on its website for SME owners who wish to apply for the e-commerce aid program.
The future is digital now for a successful small business and there is help for local entrepreneurs to adapt themselves to the new reality of e-commerce. “A lot of small businesses do not have the expertise to go digital,” said John Candie, executive director for the Prescott-Russell Community Futures Corporation (PRCFC). “We can help them.” The PRCFC received $104,000 from the federal Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF). The money will go towards the agency’s programs for assisting and advising local small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to adapt their operations towards the growing

Madame Murielle Cadieux, de Hawkesbury, est décédée le jeudi 26 novembre 2020, à l’âge de 65 ans. Elle était la tendre épouse de Gilles Cadieux; la fille de feu Henri Georges Dallaire et de feu Reina Desabrais; la chère sœur de Raymond (Pierrette). Elle fut prédécédée par deux frères : Régent et Richard. Lui survivent également plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, cousins, cousines, neveux, nièces et ami(e)s. La famille tient à remercier le personnel de l’Hôpital général de Hawkesbury. NOTICE OF PASSING OF BY-LAW 92-2020 TO CHANGE THE NATION MUNICIPALITY’S WARD BOUNDARIES
subsection 222 (4) of the Municipal Act, the Minister or any other person or agency may appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal by filing a notice of appeal with the municipality setting out the objections to the by-law and the reasons in support of the objections. Appeals must be filed with the Municipal Clerk and must be filed within 45 days of the by-law being passed. Last day for filing an appeal: January 7 th , 2021.
Under Section 222 (3) of the Municipal Act, 2001 – November 24, 2020 On November 23rd, 2020, Council passed By-law 92-2020, a by-law to re-divide and alter the wards in The Nation Municipality. Section 222 (1) of the Municipal Act allows for municipalities to pass a by-law to establish or change ward boundaries. Notice of the passing of such a by-law is required to be given to the public within 15 days of the passing. This ad is the Notice of Passing of By-law 92-2020. Under
