HIBBING HAPPENINGS:

There are some new faces on the Hibbing Pediatrics team! We would like to welcome Kelsey Goroni, OTR/L and Kayla Trushenski to the Choice Therapy Kids team. Kelsey Goroni joined Choice Therapy Kids this past December, providing Occupational Therapy services to the Hibbing school district. When school isn’t in session you can find Kelsey treating in our pediatric clinic as well as working with adults who may have suffered a CVA or stroke and other diagnoses surrounding Neurological Rehabilitation. Our newest addition to the team is Kayla Trushenski, we are excited to have Kayla join our administrative team and be the point person at the pediatric front desk. We are confident that Kayla will provide excellent customer service to our patients and their families. Please be sure to welcome Kayla to the Choice Therapy Family when you see her!

LYNDSEY ZIEMER, DPT

Lyndsey Ziemer is a graduate of University of North Dakota. Receiving a Bachelors in Athletic Training and Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has been providing care to the Iron Range for 13 years. In her free time, she volunteers as a first responder and firefighter in Clinton Township. Her greatest joy is spending time with her husband and two boys.

HOMEMADE BLACK BEAN VEGGIE BURGERS

INGREDIENTS • 1 (16 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed • ½ green bell pepper, cut into 2 inch pieces • ½ onion, cut into wedges • 3 cloves garlic, peeled • 1 egg • 1 tablespoon chili powder • 1 tablespoon cumin • 1 teaspoon Thai chili sauce or hot sauce • ½ cup bread crumbs DIRECTIONS

From August 15th through September 15th 2020 we would like to try a new way of walking the “Choice Therapy Mile”. For the next few weeks, snap a picture of yourself staying active by walking around your neighborhood and tag us on our Facebook page with the HASHTAG #choicetherapymile and you will be entered to win one of three prizes. 1. If grilling, preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil. If baking, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), and lightly oil a baking sheet. 2. In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty. 3. In a food processor, finely chop bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Then stir into mashed beans. 4. In a small bowl, stir together egg, chili powder, cumin, and chili sauce. 5. Stir the egg mixture into the mashed beans. Mix in bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. Divide mixture into four patties. 6. If grilling, place patties on foil, and grill about 8 minutes on each side. If baking, place patties on baking sheet, and bake about 10 minutes on each side.
