“I've always had an interest and a flair for modern styling—contemporary homes, flat roofs, big windows,” he explains. “When we got into new construction, that’s been my focus from the beginning.” Theory Homes is now known for its signature sleek and modern aesthetic, a style that attracts clients who appreciate cutting-edge design. But it’s not just about beauty; it’s about efficiency and innovation. “Most of the people you meet in this space are custom home builders,” MacMaster notes. “Our business started off as speculative, meaning we buy our own projects, put our own money into them, and sell them. Cost and efficiency have always been a concern, so value-engineering homes to maximize aesthetic, style, and function at the most efficient budget has been ingrained in me from the start.”
