HROOP, PA — Hiner- feld Commercial Real Estate announced the
sale of a 101- acre property in Throop, f o rme r l y known as the Marjol Bat - tery Federal Superfund Site. The trans -

action represents a major milestone in the property’s evolution from a formerly con - taminated industrial property to land positioned for future residential development. The former Marjol Battery site was remediated through a comprehensive environmen - tal cleanup led by Gould Electronics, Inc., under the oversight of the US Environ - mental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Pennsylva - nia Department of Environ - mental Protection (PADEP). On August 5, 2010, PADEP approved the final remedy, confirming completion of the remediation. Subsequent reg - ulatory reviews have verified the continued effectiveness of the cleanup.
The former Marjol Battery site
Located along the Lackawa - nna River in Throop, the ap - proximately 101-acre property is expected to be developed into a residential community featuring new housing oppor - tunities and preserved green space, contributing to the con - tinued growth and revitaliza - tion of the surrounding area. The buyer, Pine Tree Proper - ties 1 LLC, was represented by Colin Keefer of Hinerfeld Commercial Real Estate . The seller, Gould Electron - ics Inc., was represented by Bob Vanston of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Preferred Properties in Clarks Summit.
