Il a d’ailleurs croisé plusieurs autres per- sonnalités mondiales, telles que Nadal, le tennisman, ou encore Gilles Bouchard, joueur de hockey. Il n’est pas le seul à être originaire de Hawkesbury au sein de l’équipe des professionnels qui accompagne les
joueurs de volleyball. Francis Boyer, ori- ginaire de Hawkesbury, est actuellement le coordinateur de l’équipe. C’est lui qui s’occupe, entre autres, des déplacements des joueurs, des commandes des tenues de l’équipe et de bien d’autres tâches. Francis
a lui aussi pensé à sa région natale durant les J.O. 2016. Le frère de Mathieu, Christian Séguin, était lui aussi de la partie. Mathieu Séguin nous confie ce petit mo- ment de nostalgie qu’il a eu dans le village olympique lorsqu’il est arrivé à Rio. « Je me
disais que ma ville natale, Hawkesbury, est d’environ 10 000 habitants. C’est le nombre d’athlètes qui étaient rassemblés dans le village olympique. C’était assez impression- nant », a-t-il livré. Ça, on veut bien le croire que ça devait être impressionnant.
