Council okays land sale

Russell Township council approved a recommendation from administration for sale of a piece of industrial park pro- perty to Doug Fanjoy. The sale involves a 2.1-acre site. Fanjoy will buy the land for $52,500 and construct over the next two-years a 9500-square-foot garage and office building for his mobile mechanic business. Miracle League project Progress on the Miracle League ball field project is the highlight event on sched- ule at next month’s annual general meet- ing. The board of directors and support- ers of the Miracle League baseball field of dreams will find out how close the dream is to becoming a reality during the May 10 annual general meeting at Notre- Dame-des-Champs Park on Navan Road. Another highlight of the meeting will be the presence of guest speaker Mike Kusiewicz, a former major league pitcher. The afternoon meeting includes an update report on fundraising plans and in-kind support confirmations for the Miracle League ball park and playground. The facility will ensure that wheelchair- bound children in the National Capital Region (NCR) and others with disabilities can enjoy playing baseball. Weekend home fix-it help Weekend home renovators in Russell Township will get a little break on some of their building permit needs from the planning office. Township council ap- proved a proposal for a two-day per- mit offer during the summer period for certain small-scale residential projects. These two-day permits will be available from June 1 to September 30 but there are conditions attached. Applications for these permits must come in on Wednes- day mornings during the designated summer period. The permit is just for building outside decks, sheds or small garages for a residence.
