Facilitate a discussion on hazards and risks from suspended loads and dropped objects and how to mitigate these Provide constructive feedback on participants ’ ability to keep themselves out of hazard and drop zones of lifting operations
Participants shall:
Engage in discussion on identifying the hazards and drop zones for lifting operations in the work area and share experiences Demonstrate the ability during practical exercises to keep themselves out of hazard and drop zones of lifting operations
Receive feedback constructively
LIFTING ZONES
Learning objectives:
The participants can explain the hazards and risks in lifting zones and how to mitigate these (Knowledge, intermediate level) The participants can take responsibility for recognising hazards and risks in the lifting zone (Ability, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Explain the hazards and risks in lifting zones
Facilitate a discussion on risks of crushing, barriers and people entering the zone, escape route, route of the load/load path, environmental conditions, potential communication challenges
The participant shall:
Take active part in the discussion and share own experiences on hazards and risks in lifting zones
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning objective:
The participant takes responsibility for the role and responsibilities as a slinger signaller (Ability, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Lead a discussion on the hazards and risks of not having a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities when slinging and signalling
Recap on the different roles relevant for the slinger signaller
Describe where a description of roles and responsibilities can be found (lifting plan)
