Two wins and one loss for the Panthers

The Embrun Panthers won two of their three games last week, against the Renfrew Timberwolves and the Arnprior Packers. However, they lost to the Alexandria Glens. Panthers 5 Timberwolves 3 OnDecember 13, the Panthers won their game against the Timberwolves with a score of 5-3. Embrun scored three times in the first period, while Renfrew scored one. Em- brun’s Marc Brosseau found the back of the net twice and Noah Haymes also scored a goal. Luka Marinic scored one for the Ren- frew Timberwolves. In the second half, Luka Marinic found the net again. The Panthers then replied twice, with goals from Jeremy Barrie and Noah Haymes. In the third period, Luka Marinic once again found the back of the net in the third minute, this time while his team was on the power play. That goal was the last of the match, setting the final score at 5-3 for the Panthers. Panthères 4 Packers 0 Two days later, the Panthers dominated their clash against the Arnprior Packers, which ended with a 4-0 win for the Panthers. The Panthers opened the scoring towards the end of the first period with a goal by NoahHaymes. A fewminutes later, the team scored again, thanks to a shot fromCayden Martin. Both goals went in on power plays. In the third period, it wasMathieu Talbot’s turn to take advantage of a power play to score the fourth goal for the Panthers. Glens andNicholas Rousseau, goalkeeper of the Glens, 12 shots fromhis opposing team. It was during the second period that the first goal was scored, and it was Panther’s Michael Armstrong who had the honor. During this period, Embrun hit 17 shots on goal, against nine on the side of Alexandria. At the beginning of the last period, the Glens scored a goal, thanks to Reggy St-Surin taking advantage of his team’s power play.

Then, within six minutes of the end of that period, Dylan Stacey gave the lead to the Alexandria Glens. Embrun then decided to pull their goalkeeper, but the team failed to deliver. The next Panthers game will take place onDec. 22 at home, as they play against the Athens Aeros. They will then take a break during the holidays and will be back on Ja- nuary 5 to face the Renfrew Timberwolves.

Bélanger, Choquette, Galipeau, Wells, Zackary Bougie, Francis Chartrand et Miguel Crispin ont aidé les buteurs.

Les garçons de l’ESCC champions au volleyball junior

Les Aigles ont perdu 7-3 contre les Rockets de North Dundas samedi soir, mais ils ont rattrapé leur retard en battant les Royals de Bytown 9-0 dimanche soir, à l’aréna de Saint-Isidore. Les deux matchs terminent l’horaire de décembre pour Saint-Isidore dans la Ligue de hockey junior de la capitale nationale. Les Aigles occupent la quatrième place du classement général de la ligue avec 21 matchs joués et un dossier de victoires et défaites de 13-8 pour 26 points. Les Vikings de Papineauville sont en tête de la ligue avec 36 points après 21 matchs joués et un dossier de 18-3. La Gatineau Hull-Volant et les Rockets de NorthDundas sont deuxième et troisième au classement. Les Rockets ont battu les Aigles 7-3 sa- medi soir à l’aréna de Chesterville, avec Saint-Isidore obtenant un point dans cha- cune des périodes. Zackary Bougie, Maxime Choquette et Patrick Ranger ont marqué pour les Aigles. Ont aidé à ces buts, Jacob Bélanger, Alexis Leclerc et Ryan Wells. Tyler Desjardins oc- cupait le filet de Saint-Isidore. TomFingler, Justin Lefebvre, Bradley Stitt, Bryden van Kessel et Landon Veenstra ont marqué pour les Rockets. L’assistance aux buts est venue de Fingler, Stitt, van Kessel, Veenstra et Brodie Barkley. Jason Buma gar- dait le but de North Dundas.

Après les vacances de Noël, les Aigles sont à Orléans le 6 janvier au Centre Ray Friel pour faire face aux Bandits de Cumber- land, puis à la maison dimanche soir pour accueillir le Blackburn Inferno.

Les garçons de l’équipe de volleyball junior de l’École secondaire catholique de Casselman (ESCC) ont remporté le championnat de l’EOSSAA, à Sydenham, le 15 novembre dernier. Après un tournoi à la ronde dominé par les Dynamos, ils ont remporté unmatch chaudement disputé en finale contre Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute. —photo fournie
