Seventy Years in the Bond: Tarleton D. Williams

T arleton D. Williams (Lambda 1949) grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his three brothers: John N. (Lambda 1942) Joseph N. (Lambda 1949) and Clifton J. (Epsilon 1953) and always knew he wanted to be a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. A: My oldest brother, Dr. John N. Wil- liams (Lambda 1942) and First Elder Watson Diggs Awardee (1958) constant- ly extolled the many virtues, strengths, educational and community activities of Kappa Alpha Psi to me, my broth- ers Joseph N. (Lambda 1949), Clifton J. (Epsilon 1953), and all of our close friends. He urged us to prepare ourselves edu- cationally, culturally, and socially for acceptance as members of Kappa Alpha Psi. Kappa membership was always our goal. Q: Why were you interested in Kappa?

the willingness to give back and support the communities in which we live. Q: Why do you continue to serve? A: I continue to serve because Kappa is in my blood and I made a commitment to serve and be a faithful member as long as I live. Q: How do you feel about Philadelphia (PA) Alumni hosting the 84 th Grand Chapter Meeting? A: I am extremely excited that Philadel- phia can again host the Grand Chapter Meeting. The Host Planning Committee has put together an outstanding array of events for the brothers and their families to enjoy.

Q: What advice to you have for neo- phytes about service in Kappa Alpha Psi? A: I counsel all neophytes to always re- member why they sought to be a mem- ber of Kappa Alpha Psi. They should continually strive to achieve in their selected field. They should continue to exhibit a spirit of fidelity to all brothers. They should utilize their talents to en- able Kappa Alpha Psi to maintain its pre- eminent role as an organization which is committed to community support, youth development and leadership training.

Q: What do you love most about Philadel- phia?

A: Philadelphia is a great city. It has many historical, cultural, educational, artistic, social, recreational, and athletic facilities which the brothers can visit and enjoy. It is a major player in the fields of medical, scientific and technology research. Phila- delphia is a Kappa city.
