Sergeant, with 26 years of service. After his distinguished military career, Ivery moved to Austin, TX where worked as an AFJROTC instructor at Westwood High School; retiring after 15 years. While a college student, he joined the fraternity as a 1953 initiate of the Alabama State University Chapter, the Beta Zeta of Kappa Alpha Psi® where he served as polemarch. Ivery later joined the Austin (TX) Alumni Chapter. He was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) and the Knights of Columbus. Brother Collis Ivery is preceded in death by parents: Collis Herman Ivery, Sr. and Mattie Sue (nee Jenkins) Ivery. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cousin Ivery; eight children: Marcia Ivery (Herbert Sr.) Young, Collis H. (Rhonda) Ivery III (Beta Zeta 1978), Kenneth R. Ivery, Ce- dric White, Derric White, Karen Lott, Thomas (Rhonda) White, Jr., and Corey White; grandchildren: Collis H. Ivery IV (Tampa (FL) Alumni 2016), Herbert D. Young II, Jasmyne L. Ivery, Cedric White II, Christopher White, Jennifer (Brandon) Jackson, Derric White Jr., Bryan Lott, Bria Lott, Keanna Bristo, Madison White, Kalen White, Samantha White, Cole White, and Blayze White; Sister, Brothers, and In-laws: Bobbye Sue Ivery McKinney, Samuel M. (Bar- bara) Ivery, John J. (Thelma) Ivery Sr., Milton R. (Modestine) Ivery Sr., Melba Vander, Maurice (Marie) Cousin, Caro- lyn White, Dennis (Sandra) Cousin, and Bruce (Beverly) Cousin.

known as “Duke” and “Sam”, was born July 21, 1952 to the late Samuel W. Jennings, Jr. and late Shirley G. Jones in Chicago, IL. Sam was raised on the South Side of Chicago where he accepted Christ at an early age and proceeded to be baptized at Our Lady of The Gardens Catholic Church. Jennings graduated from Morgan Park High School. After high school, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Western Illinois University (WIU) located in Macomb, IL. Young Jennings flourished as an outstanding student and matriculated with Honors through both high school and college. . Professionally, he would contribute to the growth and development of several companies such as Ryerson Steel for 19 years, ASC Pacific Steelscape for 12 years and most recently as the General Manager of A-Mark Metals Inc for the past 11 years. A-Mark Metals was one of several of his business ventures that he created and nurtured with his business partners over the years. Jennings’ charismatic personality and his incredible work ethic made him a natural born leader and one who practiced servant leadership. He took pride in being a role model as well as being a confidant and friend. He was someone that you could always depend on and talk to about anything. Put simply, Brother Jennings was a true definition of a strong man and he was recognized, loved and respected by everyone that ever knew him. His presence, smiles, and words will be missed by us all. Brother Samuel W. Jennings III is preceded in death by his parents and sister Bonnylen Page. He is survived by his devoted & darling wife of 44 years, Yvette; children: Samuel W. (Mechael) Jennings, IV and Shauntai (Richard) Harvey; two brothers: Freddie (Linda) Foster, Derek (Mary) Jennings; sister: Deborah Drake; his grandchildren: Samuel W. Jennings, V, Jairdyn D.

Ladale Jones, Sr. was born on May 1, 1929 in Mont- gomery, Alabama to the late John Sherman Jones

and Henrietta Cooper Jones.

He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Montgomery and St. Clair County, Alabama school systems. He received his degree in Math and Chemistry from Tennessee State University while serving in the United States Air Force. Brother Jones was a gentleman who ex- uded confidence and integrity. He loved and lived life to the fullest. A devout Baptist he was sustained by faith, family and friends. He was very knowledgeable and always enjoyed a great debate on any subject of interest whether it was politics, sports, education or the Bible. His life was exemplary of a man of great character. He spent time and shared conversations with people of all walks of life. He always helped anyone in need and contributed to many organizations and educational institutions. Dressed in his Air Force Blues, this of- ficer had a style of his own. As a result of his 36 years of federal service, Jones received a commendation in Washing- ton, D.C. He served with Honor and Distinction in both the military and civilian capacities. Brother Jones retired from the Veterans Administration, Wash- ington, D.C. as Chief of Quality Review Administrator.
