Make Art With Us!

Did you know visual art learning alters neural structure and function, supporting plasticity in neural pathways (Schlegel et al., 2014; https:// doi.org/10.1016/j.neuroimage.2014.11.014 )? Art also offers an opportunity for self-expression and sharing personal stories. Senior Companion volunteers are trained to recognize early signs of dementia and to offer support through activities that promote cognitive health, like the Squiggle Art activity below. Squiggles can be filled in, decorated, or used as the starting point for a drawing. From there, the artist now has a visual prop to share feelings or experiences. Give it a try!

20 VOLUNTEER POSITIONS CURRENTLY OPEN Please consider giving your time and friendship.

If you would like to serve your community and be a lifeline to homebound older adults, please call (520) 305-3453 to learn more about becoming a Senior Companion Volunteer!
