What I did: During my internship experience, I worked directly with the City of Marinette’s Marketing and Tourism Director, Shawn Katzbeck. While working with Shawn, I was given first-hand experience on what marketing for a city entails. I learned about the many different aspects of marketing while also completing a variety of marketing tasks, such as working with graphic design, helping promote and coordinate city events, and working with social media and other useful software. Along with completing these tasks, I also worked at the Marinette Welcome Center as a travel guide, where I assisted tourists/the public and promoted city events and merchandise. In addition, I helped with caretaking of event grounds and the Welcome Center. What I liked: I really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and intelligent mentor, as well as the variety of tasks that I completed each day. Future Dream Job: I would like to work my way up the ladder in sports marketing.
