Tuition Fund Statement | 23-24
INTRODUCTION
SCL Group are committed to providing high-quality education to ensure learners are provided with opportunities to achieve their goals and aspirations. SCL Group understand that for some learner’s extra interventions are necessary due to the impact of COVID19. Therefore, SCL Education will be utilising the 16-19 Tuition Fund to allow learners on Study Programmes to be able to access support. This document demonstrates how SCL Education will be utilising that funding allocation to support learners who have been academically disadvantaged for a variety of reasons.
INTENT
SCL Education will utilise this funding to provide learners with support to catch up on lost learning, skill development and close any gaps in learning that may have been impacted by COVID 19 lockdown or other situations relating to their individual circumstances.
COVERAGE
SCL Education will support learners aged 16-19 partaking in a Study Programme who:
have not achieved a Grade 6 in English and/or maths live in a disadvantaged geographical area as defined by the Department for Education (DfE) have applied and been awarded bursary have disclosed a SEND need Tuition will be in English, maths and other subjects that have been disrupted, including vocational and/or academic learning. Learners aged 19 to 24 who have an education, health and care (EHC) plan are also eligible for support.
IMPLEMENTATION
All learners must be on a 16 to 19 study programme and the funding will be used to support a tuition activity above and beyond the programmes of education already planned in Study Programme as standard.
Tuition Support could include:
Maths and English topic support
GCSE revision workshops and functional skills assessment preparation support Vocational academic skills support and development Specialist Support to improve engagement for learners with SEND 121 or small-group workshops covering a range of study skills There will be opportunities to engage in small group activities (classes of no more than 5 learners), 1:1 tuition, live online classes, dedicated, face to face intensive workshops. These will be delivered by English and Maths Specialists and Personal Development Coaches.
MONITORING & EVALUATION
Learners in need of catch-up support may be identified by Tutors/Managers in conjunction with the Personal Development Coaches and English & maths team, who will be able to assess, identify and record the specific needs to ensure tuition is targeted accordingly. An individual needs assessment will support in the creation of a plan to justify the individual need that is above and beyond that, that is delivered as standard in the Study Programme. Learners will also be encouraged to refer themselves if they feel they need additional support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SCL Group is committed to ensuring the 16-19 tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance by: producing this statement setting out how the fund will be used to support the most disadvantaged learners & publishing it on our website. report in the ILR learners who will benefit from tuition activities. retain evidence of those individual learners, their needs, the support they receive, the number of hours of tuition delivered and the tuition provided. deliver the extra tuition and spend the allocated funds in the academic year 2023/24 notify the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) of any underspend at the end of the 23/24 academic year.
